Tutorial on how to make felt stars 2014/12/12

These delicious little stars can be made to decorate the Christmas tree, as place markers or to give to classmates or teachers.

Without the foam rubber filling, they can be used to form chains and beautify the Christmas table or even a theme party. To facilitate the making, instead of using a thread and needle, you can use hot silicone, but the final effect is less smooth.

Materials:

  • Felt in the colors you prefer
  • Scissors
  • Thread in the same color of the felt
  • Needle
  • Beads and buttons
  • 1 cm wide ribbon, cut into pieces of 6 cm in length, you can use ribbons from other crafts
  • Foam rubber
  • Paper
  • Pins

How to make it:

Print on paper the pair of stars previously drawn in two measurements. You can use the computer or download directly the models we offer for you, which have been numbered to facilitate the identification of each pair. You will find them on the end of this post.

Cut out the paper stars and form the pairs.

Choose the pair you want to craft and with the help of a pin, set it on the fabric and cut out the form. You need two large stars and a small one per each felt star you want to make.

Decorate the small star with beads or buttons and sew by hand with the festoon stitch (you will find an image on how to do it at the end of the post) at the center of each one of the larger stars.

Always, on the larger star, set the ribbon forming a tie with a few simple stitches.

Take the second large star and sew it on the back of the half sewn stars. Insert a small piece of foam rubber to give a pillow effect. Finish the stitching.

Repeat the method to make more stars, combining the colors you have available and decorating each one differently!

For your Christmas parties, you can use red and yellow felt and create a cascade of starts to decorate your home and receive your guests in a Shinny Stars themed dinner. Download the party kit from our store now!
