How to elaborate a cutlery holder for Valentine’s Day 2015/02/10

The following cutlery holder is made to embellish our tables in the Valentine’s Day party.

Materials

  • Square cotton fabric
  • Red cotton fabric
  • Red and white threads
  • White yarn
  • Scissors
  • Needle
  • Crochet hook

With the help of 3 cutlery pieces I have obtained the posterior part measurements, having the measurement of 26 cm long x 14 cm wide.

To cover the cutlery I add a rectangular mold of 20 cm long x 14 cm wide. I have included the space for the seam of 1/2 cm wide.

I add a third piece of 9 cm x 14 cm

I have joined this to the posterior part of the cutlery holder to create a single triangle, it serves as a view in the front part. We start cutting the pieces.

We cut and start sewing.

Here is the sewed front part, we always iron in the posterior part.

We sew the front and posterior pieces in one.

I make a zigzag over the central red square, this to make it attractive.

We iron and this is the result.

We make a hem in both ends

We prepare to close taking care the opening is set adequately and we sew.

We turn it back to front and iron, this is the result of your sewing process.

Now we pass to the embroidering, we center the heart and mark it with a pencil.

I have used the back stitch to delineate the heart and the decoration following this procedure.

Here the result of the embroidering.

For the tip detail with the hook I have followed the following diagram.

Using a 1 mm needle to easily pass it through the fabric. As shown in the photo, I have began by the posterior part from right to left.

Second line return and close.

This is the final result, nevertheless we can create variants to each of the cutlery holders embroidering different types of hearts or adding the initials of each one of the guests to customize them.

Alongside the cutlery holder you can include a little gift, like the book markers of Valentine’s: you can find them at our store!

Pleasure to make your party special
