Planning the party 06/06/2010

The ideal thing would be to make the party the day of the birthday, or if this is not possible, the weekend before or after the birthday date. Decide the party’s theme and the place, book the place with anticipation if you are thinking of organizing the party in another place outside your home. First visit the place and make sure it is adequate and safe for the age group that will be attending the birthday party.

If you will use an outdoor place, make sure you have a plan B like inside games in case the weather conditions aren’t the best.

Depending on your budget you can plan on hiring entertainment for the children, from the inflatable jumping game, popcorn cart, cotton candy up to face painting

The invitations:

Send the invitations approximately three weeks in advance or more if the party is going to take place during school vacations. Keep in mind that the invitations must include the date, the hour and place the party will take place, as well as the details of the hour the children must be picked up after the party.

If it is going to be a themed party or an activity party like a pool party, include this in the invitations for the children to dress up properly.

Visit our site dedicated to invitations and you will find lots of themes to choose from.

Other good idea if to put your name on the invitation so the parents know who to call and don’t have to ask to talk to “Ricardo’s mother”.

Ask you child to help you with the guest’s list, but he must be firm with the number of guests… lots of kids can be overwhelming for you and the birthday boy or girl.

Take the available space into consideration when deciding the number of guests.

Time and theme:

Decide if it’s going to be a morning, an afternoon or an evening party and schedule everything accordingly. If it is a party for little children, make sure to schedule everything according with their nap time to avoid tantrums.

Verify the assistance a week before the party and call the parents who haven’t answered.

Buy groceries at least with three days of anticipation. Bake the cake the day before (if you are looking for someone to do this, order it at least one week before). Make sure you have tables to put the surprises and presents, as well as enough chairs if you are expecting the parents too.
