How to make an Ottoman shaped pincushion 2017/03/28

Yes!!

Here we celebrate everything, also parties between friends from the yoga group, former school classmates and many other types of reunions,

but today’s it’s about the embroidering and knitting group, because today we will make an original pincushion that will be a beautiful gesture for them

Materials

  • Wood
  • Ruler and pencil
  • Hand saw
  • Glue
  • Nails and hammer
  • Paint and paintbrush
  • Silicone gun
  • Tapestry fabric
  • Rubber foam
  • Scissors
  • Thread and needle
  • Ribbon
  • Some decoration

Get a wood ribbon of 10x30 mm, this is 3cm width by 1cm of thickness and preferable 3 meters long, this way we can get 30 ottomans in total

With the following model measurements we will cut the wood

Cut a 6cm piece

Cut two 1.50 cm pieces

To give a good finish, after each cut sand each piece

To join the pieces, we put white glue in the joints and then we set with nails and hammer

We paint it white or the color you prefer

We cut the rubber foam to the size of the base. As a bulky cushion is required, I’ve put 2 pieces; to fit the corners and join both foams, I’ve sewn the entire contour with a festoon stitch

Cut the fabric larger than the cushion, here I show you how I’ve made the stitches to hide them in the fabric

With the hot silicone, glue the cushion to the base

With the ribbon, hide the joint between the cushion and the base

Here is the result

You can use other types of ribbon or braid

Add a bow with a pearl or small flower and place some ball head pins

Prepare a beautiful confection for your guests and decorate with 5.5 cm in diameter Cupcake Toppers customized for your event
