Christmas wreaths with vine branches, tutorial 2014/11/24

Living in Italy, I have seen that in my area vineyards represent the fall landscape.

So, here is the proposal: take advantage of the old vines or wild vineyards, whose branches grow very long. Obviously we respect the vineyards destined to the grape because it is still not pruning time and also those branches do not work since they are shorter.

I have prepared a tutorial to make wreaths with vine branches, instead of wicker, which would be the ideal material for this type of craft; looking around us: we take advantage of the available materials. First we have to choose the longest and softest branches

Remove the leaves, now while they are still tender (I suggest you remove each leaf carefully to not scratch the main branch and those beautiful curls that are beautiful to see).

For the small wreath you need a branch of a 2 meters and we start rolling it up between the fingers from the thickest part towards the tip to leave the tender branches at the end.

When we reach the half, we start to interlace inwards to avoid the wreath from opening.

We keep the wreaths, ready to be used and decorated for Christmas. It is important to know that this craft must be done now, because later they will start to dry and become harder. We can keep the wreaths in a cardboard box in dry place.

Tip: if you add more branches to the wreaths, they will be bigger so we are able to decorate them more.

The smaller wreathes are made with just one braided branch. For wreaths with a larger diameter, it is necessary to have many joined branches up to 4 meters.

Mainly, the wreaths can be used for Christmas as a table decoration with candles in the middle, even creating a “pine” with wreaths of diameters that gradually get smaller towards the top.

What is important is to prepare the wreaths now that the vine branches are soft.

While you wait for the Christmas preparations, discover the Christmas proposals in our store to enrich your table.

Prepare different wreaths and combine them with the Rustic Christmas party kit: the warmth of the wood and snow will evoke the tradition that warms the heart.
