How to elaborate a jewelry holder manikin 2017/05/30

Today we will make a delicate decoration or centerpiece for girl or teen parties, bachelorette parties

or as seen on the manikin you can create a specific ambiance, in the end you’ll have a jewelry holder

Materials

  • Cotton fabric or jacquards
  • Lace, ribbons, tulle
  • Threads and needle
  • Pins and scissors
  • Wadding
  • Wooden stick

We follow the next pattern, I’ve followed the 15 cm one

We print the pattern and on the back of the design we mark with a pencil the silhouette of the manikin

This is the way we transfer the figure to the fabric; we set the double fabric with pins and arrange the lace on the lower part of the manikin (this is optional)

We sew leaving the bottom part opened

We cut the excess fabric leaving an edge of at least 1 cm and turn the body inside out

We fill the manikin, the more wadding the firmer it will be

Now we arrange the fabric to close also placing the stick, we leave the lace free on the bottom and set with pins

We sew by hand using the festoon stitch

This is how it looks once it’s closed, a firm stick and a discreet stitching

To decorate the manikin I’ve sewn many pieces of tulle to form a crinoline

Here is an idea on how to decorate your manikin

I’ve used a wooden base, be careful when drilling the base; in the end I decided to paint it white

Another idea to set the stick is on a plaster base, it’s using the caps of clothing soap bottles as a mold, use 2 parts of plaster by one of water

Here is the result
