How to Apply the Wood Pickling Technique 2016/06/17

Today I will share with you how to do the Wood pickling technique, applied on some delicate wooden houses.

We will ne able to make arrangements to decorate events like Birthdays, Baby Shower and parties for those who like birds

Materials

• Wooden houses
• Sandpaper
• Hooks
• Different colors of paint
• Paintbrushes
• Candle
• Ribbons

Wood pickling is a technique where we eliminate layers of paint, so previously we would have had to paint two layers of different colors, to later scrape with stabbing objects the most superficial.

The wood must be ready to work it, so we don’t have to sandpaper it more until achieving a smooth surface

Steps for Wood Pickling

Paint one of the houses black, this will be the base color and the other one white.

With a drill make the holes to create the “door” of the house and the hole to put the stick in where the bird will be supported.

Paint and let dry

Once dry we pass the candle through where we wish to remove the paint

Now, paint the houses again; the one with the black base I’ve painted white and the one with the white base I’ve painted in a delicate pink

We let them dry again

We start the wood pickling by scrapping the superficial paint on the places where we scrapped with the candle, this way we create a vintage effect.

For the pink house, as well as scrapping the paint, I’ve scrapped with a nail the wood, creating scrapes, which give the appearance of age.

Add details to the house, like the hook, where the bird will be, etc.

As an extra detail, to the pink house, I’ve added a delicate decoupage.

Prepare many little houses and display them on various places of the venue where the Woodland themed party will take place, for a calm and serene party.
