How to make an Eva rubber butterfly 2017/06/02

Today we will make a beautiful decoration to place on the tables, hanging from the ceiling or flying between the trees

Materials

  • Eva rubber or foamy
  • Different texture fabrics and lace
  • White glue and silicone
  • Bamboo stick
  • Scissors, cutter, ruler
  • Pattern

Print the diagram

Transfer the designs you select to a hard cardboard (this will work as a guide when cutting), cut these pieces on foamy

To form the body of the butterfly we cut 15 cm by 1 cm in width of foamy strips, 3 of 10 cm by 1 cm strips and preferably with a cutter, be very careful!

To paste the fabrics to the foamy, we use white glue covering the entire piece without exceeding ourselves with the quantity, we use the help of a laminate to achieve uniformity

Now we delicately place the fabric on top of every piece, without pressing because this can cause the glue to go through the fabric, we let it dry and cut the remaining fabric with sharp scissors

We wrap the foamy strips so they take form, roll them and then paste one by one, then we find the sides of each roll and paste between them with silicone, finally we glue on the center

We form antennas with wire, make a hole with a toothpick on the foamy and we position the antennas in that place

Now we have all the pieces of the butterfly, we paste the little wing decorations with silicone

For the wings to get a concave shape, we warm up the wings from the back with a hair dryer on maximum heat, when the foamy is soft we mold it with a spherical object

First we paste the wings on one side each, with the silicone, forming one piece, then we paste the wings to the butterfly’s body, on the roll after the head

We cover the bamboo stick with brown floratape, this will work as a base for the butterfly, it’s optional since you could hang them from the celling or trees

And here is our butterfly! I’m happy to show you some foamy crafts

Complement the event with the butterfly theme party

Pleasure to make your party special!
