How to make Macramé Bracelets 2017/03/23

Macramé is an old technique in which cotton threads are weaved and cords are made.

Today I’ll show you basic knits and more advanced ones, and we will make a bracelet for parties or to give away to your guests.

Materials

  • Cotton thread
  • Pearls
  • Scissors
  • Needle

For this design we cut 3 cotton threads of 80 cm long

The ring we will form is a basic way to create a closing in bracelets (with no clasp); we start by taking one of the threads knitting to wrap the other two, this is the single festoon stitch in macramé

With the threads with which we’ve lined the ring, we line the square knot to close it

For the square knot we use the threads we’ve used in the previous step, not the ones that have been fixed

We try to pass the pearl through the just formed ring, regulating that it is tight since this pearl will work as a closing; we close knotting firmly

We insert the small pearls in the 2 central threads with the help of a needle, this thread will not be knotted on the first phase of work

We move the pearl up under the first square knot; the threads that are left on the inferior part of the last square knot we lift them on the center part and with the left threads in the upper part we form the square knot

Then, with the threads that were upwards we form the following square knot; Now we’ve created 2 square knots with both threads, we repeat the process

We continue until having the wished length of the bracelet

For the closing part, I’ve created a different fantasy. After one of the pearls, I’ve created an eight knot with the same thread that holds the small pearls, moving the thread so it stays flat, repeat this step 3 times

The result is a section that breaks monotony of the last section

Here is our finished bracelet

Make many bracelets to give away at your party! And for everything to be perfect, I suggest the customizable Boho Kit to embellish your event even more.
