How to make felt Poppy flowers 2017/07/14

Today we will create some delicate poppy flowers that will work for decorating your event

Materials

• Red and black felt
• Yellow yarn
• Thread and sewing needle
• Green Floratape
• Scissors and cardboard

Print the diagram

We transfer the figures to the hard cardboard that will work as a mold for the petal and flower center cuts

We start with the center of the poppy flower, we make a cut to the piece as shown in the photo and we overlap 2 of the petals to have 3 in the end, with the yarn we embroider a flower (you can use the daisy embroidery), finally we unravel the felt contour with a thread

We close the openings of each petal using the festoon stitch and tightening the thread to hide the stitch between the felt

Now we have each of the elements of our flower ready

First we join 2 inner petals, one wrapping the other; then external petals, again one wrapping the other

Now we sew the center of the flower and set it with a knot on the back

We wrap the yarn in Floratape, this way we can use our poppy flower as a bookmark without damaging the book with wire
